Description

The Bernina 495 Liberty Edition pairs Bernina’s Swiss engineering with Liberty’s design heritage. Produced as a limited run, the machine carries an exclusive faceplate in Liberty’s Velasco Meadow print, a delicate floral design drawn up in Liberty’s London studio, giving the machine a romantic, distinctive look on your sewing table.

That Liberty character runs deeper than the faceplate too. The machine includes 32 exclusive decorative stitches inspired by the same floral and botanical motifs, letting you carry the Liberty aesthetic through into garments, quilts and home décor projects of your own.

Underneath the styling sits a genuinely capable Bernina machine. You get 1,027 built in stitch patterns including 282 decorative stitches, 28 quilting stitches and 5 sewing alphabets, along with 11 buttonhole styles and an automatic buttonhole measuring system. The Bernina Hook system keeps stitch quality consistent at speeds of up to 900 stitches per minute, and the front loading jumbo bobbin means fewer pauses to rethread.

The 4.3 inch colour touchscreen makes navigating settings straightforward, and the built in Creative Sewing Consultant will recommend the right stitch, presser foot and settings for whatever technique you’re working on, handy if you’re still building confidence with a new machine. There’s also a semi-automatic needle threader, automatic thread cutter, and the Free Hand System knee lifter for keeping both hands on your fabric.

This special edition includes three additional presser feet beyond the standard set: the Edgestitch Foot #10V for clean topstitching, the Open Embroidery Foot #20V for clear visibility on decorative work, and the Patchwork Foot #37V for accurate quilting and piecing. The machine is also compatible with the Bernina Stitch Regulator for consistent straight stitch and zigzag free motion work, and a matching Liberty print trolley is available separately for those who like to travel with their machine.
