Description
Built for quilters who have run out of room
If you quilt, the number that matters most on any machine is the space to the right of the needle, because that is where the bulk of your quilt has to go. The b77 gives you 230mm, or nine inches. That is a genuinely different experience from a standard domestic machine. A double quilt that used to fight you through the harp now rolls and feeds without you wrestling it, and you stop making design decisions based on what your machine can physically cope with.
Integrated dual feed, no extra foot needed
The b77 feeds fabric from above and below at the same time, and it is built into the machine rather than being a walking foot you clip on and hope for the best with. Quilt layers stay together, no shifting top fabric and no wave in the backing when you get to the end of a long pass. It makes just as much difference on stripes, checks, vinyl and anything slippery.
500 stitches, including 35 for quilting
You get 22 practical stitches, 133 decorative stitches and 35 quilting stitches, including the stipple and hand look quilting stitches that give you that hand finished look from the machine. There are 17 buttonholes as well, which is a lot more range than most machines at this level and covers everything from a fine blouse to a heavy coat.
Maximum stitch width is 7mm, so the decorative work has real presence.
A five inch colour touchscreen that does the thinking
Stitch selection, width, length, tension and needle position all live on a bright colour touchscreen with multi function knobs beside it, so you can adjust as you sew rather than stopping to hunt through menus. There is also a creative consultant built in: tell it what you are working on, and it suggests the stitch, foot and settings to use. Handy when you are trying something new and would rather not sew three test samples first.
Speed and comfort features
The machine runs up to 1000 stitches per minute, and four LEDs light the whole sewing area rather than one small pool near the needle. Other things you will use every day:
- Semi automatic needle threader that lowers the presser foot into position for you
- Automatic thread cutter at the press of a button, plus a manual cutter on the head
- Automatic tie off
- Knee lever, so you can lift the presser foot and keep both hands on your work
- Programmable foot control with back kick, so a tap of your heel can cut threads or raise the needle
- Start and stop button for sewing without the foot control, which most people prefer for free motion work
- Needle stop up or down
- Adjustable presser foot pressure
- Drop in hook, easy to load and easy to see
Comes ready to quilt
The slide on extension table is included as standard, giving you a large flat surface to support the weight of a quilt, and the Free Hand System is in the box too. Slide the table off and you have a free arm for sleeves, cuffs and hems.
