At the heart of the 1150 MDA is BERNINA’s patented mtc (micro thread control) system, which gives you precise control over over-edge thread length at the turn of a dial — meaning perfect seams across all fabrics and stitch types without the guesswork. Combined with the patented differential feed, puckered or wavy seams in knits and stretch fabrics become a thing of the past.

The professional knife drive is designed for serious work, handling thick fabric layers, denim, and heavy linen just as accurately as delicate lightweight materials. A front foot lift makes positioning bulky projects far easier, and the handwheel position indicator takes the frustration out of threading by showing you exactly when the needles and lower looper are in the right position.

Threading is made even simpler with the built-in needle threader for both needles, and the machine comes with an Elasticator Foot and Blindstitch Foot included as standard — ideal for sportswear, lingerie, and invisible blind hems.
