The Brother Innov-is A50 is a beginners entry level computerised sewing machine. The functions and features this model has to offer makes operating the machine easy. With the Advanced one-action needle threader you’ll never have to struggle to thread the needle again.
This machine has an electronic jog dial so that you can select a stitch that corresponds with the numbers on the front panel. All of the stitches are pre-programmed into the machine, with stitch width and length adjustment buttons if you need to alter them. You have two sewing options, you can sew with the start/stop button or the foot control which is included and you have the slide type speed controller to set the speed that you find comfortable.
When it comes to threading the machine each step is marked out with numbers to ensure that you thread the top thread and wind the bobbin correctly. This machine has a quick-set top load drop-in bobbin which makes it easy to see when the bobbin thread runs out.
The 50 stitches on the machine gives you a wide range of options for different sewing needs, whether you need the overlock stitch, blind hem or decorative stitches. It also has 5 styles of 1-step automatic buttonholes and a twin needle setting.
The Brother A50 has a 2,6″ LCD display and LED lighting, it is compact and lightweight for easy storage. Sewing is easy with the automatic reverse/reinforcement stitch.
For quilting you can buy the Brother Creative Quilters kit which includes 1/4″ foot, walking foot, free motion foot, extension table a walking foot guide and a free motion guide grip. This is an optional extra but it works out cheaper than buying them all separately.
Overall I would recommend this machine for someone looking to do general sewing, but the Innov-is A50 is also suitable for dressmaking and quilting.
